Journey vs Phase Based Intent

Within the Made With Intent platform, you are able to calculate some of our metrics relative to the visitor's Phase, or the visitor's Overall Journey.

As every user moves through the Intent Phases (Engage, Build Intent, Maintain Intent, Convert), they will build intent metrics that are relative to their phase. For example, a customer may have high intent to convert within the Engage phase, however relative to the whole journey, this may be low.

By default, when you look at the Intent to Convert metric in the Segment Assistant, it will be relevant to the phase. So an experience for users with High Intent to Convert will fire for users in every phase, when they match that criteria. We do this to enable you to pick up on those who have high intent earlier in the journey, making your audience size bigger.

However, you may want to look at these metrics based on a users whole journey, not relative to the phase they are in. This setting allows you to target users based on this instead. For example; a user who has high intent to convert across their whole journey, which is likely to only match those further down the phases.
